I’m also following emergency instructions and stocking up on batteries, flash lights, bottled water, and toilet paper. I’ve also just gone to the bank to make sure I have some extra money on hand. I had to cash in my 401k to do it, but better safe than sorry.
As an extra precaution I’m looking for hatches to batten down but am having some problems because I don’t know what either word means. As always in times of uncertainty I look to The New Yorker cartoon archives for guidance. This one, by Henry Martin from 1967, is helpful in terms of understanding battenability.
